Teenage Alienation
Teenagers all over the country have been disinclusive and made fun of. Teens have been left out and physically abused at school. There seems to be no solution. Teachers and students have tried so many things, but none of them have been affective. Because when a kid is being picked on, they are afraid to tell anyone. Also sexual abuse or sexual harassment is another thing that teens deal with. Drugs and alcohol is another big one. Also cyber bullying is another thing teenagers will run into in life.
Alcohol is a big pressure for teens. They have people saying that it’s good for you and that it will make your life better. But It will kill you if you have too much of it. People get killed almost every day from drunk drivers and only you can stop it. When you’re at a party with your friends you don’t have to have any at all. You should just say no, I will not have anything to drink I am driving. Drugs is another huge thing. When you get a try and you like it, you will do anything to get it. That’s the problem if you just say no once and then you don’t have to deal with it anymore. Just say no, don’t care what they say do what’s right and not what you want to do.
Sexual abuse and physical abuse by a parent is unexplainable. Why would you do that, you raised this kid and now you abuse her/him and sexually harass them. Then when they are teenagers they hate it, but are afraid to get help or tell the police. They have been beaten so badly that they think it could not get any worse. That if they told the police that the person would beat them so hard that they could die. People can be so cruel that they don’t know what they are doing. Or what the other person is thinking or feeling. It can scare someone physically and emotionally. They are afraid to tell anyone, because it will get worse and worse until they run away or decide to tell someone. But by then they are grown up and moved out as soon as they could.
Cyber bullying is another way for another person to be harassed. When kids get home from school most of them go on the computer, and check their email to discover threatening and intimating emails. When they were being bullied all day and want to get away, but they can’t. Like if the want to play video games and get hostile messages on that to. They feel like they just want to end it all. It starts out with teens thinking about suicide. Then they say they are going to but they don’t. The final stage is when they say, they are and he/she does. The people had been saying stuff about them so much that they start believing what the bullies say. They think that they are what other people are saying and feel terrible about themselves.
Bullying, sexual harassment, drugs and alcohol. These things will kill you in the long run and they can destroy your life. The only thing is that you have to say no and if they proceed call the police. They can’t hurt you anymore if you call the police. They will have you live somewhere safe. No one will hurt you anymore. So If something like this happens to you tell somebody, and you will feel better when you tell somebody. Then life will be at least a little but easier.
Bluffs
Tara Donovan has a creative soul. She explains her life in her artwork. She creates artwork that speaks out to the person who experiences it. They feel as if they can connect to the art piece. The art work she made is a phenomenal piece that feels as though it reaches into your soul. She has touched many people and inspired them to create artwork of their own. Her sculpture made out of the simplest things, such as glue and buttons , is called the Bluffs. That is created into a magnificent piece of art. To me her artwork looks like someone has built up to get somewhere, such as, a miniature ladder that people have used to turn their life around or like a time line that gets taller and taller as that person’s life continues to grow. The bottom of the sculpture could be interpreted as symbolized when someone has the worst situation, for example, when you don’t have the money to afford their house anymore or can’t pay their debts. They have to work up to the top and then at the top after a long time of hard work, they can afford a bigger house or have a lot of things. It could also symbolize if someone over comes an emotional distress.
Tara grew up in Nyack New York. She studied at School of Visual Arts, New York 1987 to 1988. She received her BFA at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington D.C. in 1991. She had made another sculpture out of a scotch tape and styro foam. Also another one is made from drinking straws to make one giant straw. She says that she chooses materials before she figures out how to use them. So it’s like when someone is trying to figure out what job they want, so they pick jobs they are interested in and then decide what one best fits them. Which one is the best fit/ that they are best at.
Tara Donovan is one of the most creative people in the world. The things she creates are astonishing in their own way. They inspire people and everyone looks at it differently. That’s the beauty of art it’s made for people to think about themselves and how it relates to them. It goes into your imagination as if that picture in your head exists and that you can create it. That’s the magic of the art of Tara Donovan.
