The War

The Revolutionary War was one of the most brutal wars in history. The colonists were sick of being pushed around by the king and decided to stand up and say no. After the King taxed the tea that was the final straw and the war began. The king had been treating them like children and that they were just having a tantrum. But it was more than that the colonists wanted their freedom, for they had earned it. They wanted to be free and start a new country. They wanted to claim what was theirs, and they would do anything to get it. Even though the colonists were low on soldiers, they were able to fight as well as an army of 100,000. They had come up with new tactics that was never heard of in Britain. They had developed a new tactic called ambushes. They would end up winning from this tactic, while the British would basically march straight into the enemy. They would line up and shoot then reload. To them there was no reason to hide for they were the leaders and thought that they invincible. Also once they had to reload they would charge with bayonets in a suicide charge. The colonists would fall back when they were out of ammo. Eventually the British would go to such drastic measures that they would kill innocent people to figure out where the rebels base was. They would burn down houses and towns, even if they had nothing to do with the rebels. Jesus once said that “money is the root of all evil” (Revolutionary Quotes). This quote means that the king was so greedy that it was to him all that he cared about not how they felt. When he taxed and taxed them, they decided to stand up and take a stand, thus creating the Revolutionary War. The colonists thought they were going to win, but inside they thought they had no chance. They were immensely outnumbered but the tactics were on their side. They used the tactic called ambush. Which is where a couple of soldiers sit in bushes and hide until an enemy comes and jump out and attack them? The British were not the smartest, their version of a tactic was to run up and shoot and sit in the middle of the battlefield and reload.
The colonists had a hard way of life. They had to grow everything and hunt everything. They had to really do everything. They could not go to a butcher and pick out what animal they wanted to eat. Where they hunted they could not choose what ran out in front of them. If you got a deer that could last you for a couple of days and then have to go back out again. Also crops were hard to find since you had little selection as to what the ground allowed you to grow. If the soil was rich with nutrients then you could grow whatever you had, but if the soil was poor with it then you had to grow whatever that could deal with that type of ground. Let alone compared to the British’s way of life. The British ways of life was so easy. They had to fight and some of them had not even seen battle. But they still got paid their whole salary. They could really get their salary and leave but they did not. Why would they leave when everyday they got 3 hot meals and a place to sleep. The King treated his soldiers like gods for they would win the war for him. The way of life was way different and that the colonists had to fight for a place to sleep and a hot meal. The king did not care at all about them. If they did not have any money he would throw them out into the sea. The king treated everyone different and that to me was not right and that colonist had the right to rebel against him. For once John Wayne once said “We built your fort and we will not have it used against us” (Revolutionary War Quotes). Meaning that the colonists had built the country and that they should not have to pay him for something they built.
